The car setting substantially increases bass below 100hz, so this ends up making a really flat, smooth response "in car". This is exactly what you want. I use 4 of these with a subwoofer. But they are pretty strong even without the sub. Unfortunate for me, somewhere along my trail of woe of buying and installing Infinity Reference (Excellent too), Polk, Polk Momo, Focal, Kenwood, :Pioneer, I reversed Left Front polarity which made everything screechy by killing bass. Many of those would probably have sounded very good, but these are stellar! Part of the magic of these speakers is the phase plug in the center... the small truncated cone you see. This truck comes with a tweeter mounted separately up higher in the door panel. Adapters are included to install the 5.25 bass speaker in to a 6x8 mount. The tweeter comes with numerous bracket mounting options. The included crossovers are non-adjustable and wire in easily. Everything mounted without cutting in to door panels which was my goal.Sound is clear and crisp. Tweeters can be a little bright, so some adjustment to the head unit treble may be needed. So far I am very pleased with the results. |
