I bought the Pioneer unit to upgrade a factory unit in a 2002 Toyota Celica, a car which features an orange-backlit instrument cluster. Since most aftermarket stereos like to blast the user with shades of blue and white, the adjustable color option sold this unit over several otherwise-equal competitors. I obtained a factory wiring harness to minimize the damage and tangle in the dash, and went to work. Before long I had a working MP3 head unit...or so I thought.Unfortunately, it wasn't quite that simple. Granted, some things do work well -- the remote, for example, is not just a gimmick, it offers fast access to some sub-menus and settings that otherwise require tedious button pressing and scrolling on the head unit. I could see where on some colors people might think they're a little bright, but there are so many color options i dont see why there would be a problem with the lights bothering you at night. Pandora feature is wicked awesome because I cant stand listening to radio stations playing the same songs over and over again, the only problem is your smartphone needs to be hooked up to 3g or 4g or else it will take a long time to get your songs to play. When you use the USB feature and open up music on your phone you can't choose the songs, it will either choose a playlist you have or select your entire library and the only way to pick a song would be to unplug your phone/ipod and choose the song then plug it back in.
